Here I am checking the alignment of
the cutouts by shining the shop light
through the face... perfect!!!
The Foam Seal...
This foam seal blocks ambient light
from the adjacent indicators. It had
rotted into dust. The slightest touch
sent crumbs of foam falling to the
bench.
The white baffle on the left of the
picture presses up against the seal. I
could have left the rotten seal in
place... after all, it was intact, but
naaa... who want rotten rubber in their
machine? besides, most of it washed
off while I was washing the face.
I created a replacement seal out of a
thin sheet of foam. I did a rubbing on
the face to create a template. I then
use the template and an exacto knife
to cut the new seal.
