Oh my gosh!!! What a mess!! Wires running
everywhere and big globs of solder where wire
wraps used to be. You can see there was no
thought to neatness here. The prior tech must
have been in a great rush, or just did not think
neatness counted for anything.
I had several days work just to clean this up. In
these photos you will see the steps needed to
bring order to this.
1) Clearing away old solder
2) Replacing and re-wrapping wires
3) Re-routing wires to bring order
4) replacing the main supply capacitors
5) Cleaning the fame
6) Finding a neat replacement for the ground strap
across the common capacitor posts, as well as
anchoring the wires.
The images on the next few pages will detail the
clean-up of the under side as well as reworking
the power supply.
Oh man!!! What is this???? A piece of solder wick covered with solder, used as a
strap for the common terminals. Ugly, ugly, ugly!!! This could have been a lot neater,
but was poorly done... very sloppy.
Great globs of solder!!!
