The front face gets
disassembled, washed
and the rotten foam gets
replaced...
Here we have a shot of the outputs. Genuine, brand-new ON Semi output transistors. These are
superior to the original transistors... tougher, better frequency handling.
The old transistors were
soldered into the sockets.
Can you believe that? There
is only one way to get the
transistors from the socket...
rip it out.
It destroys the transistor and
the socket by pulling the
contacts or posts out of the
socket or the transistor.

Luckily, I have a bunch of
NOS TO-3 sockets. Half the
transistors were shorted
anyway (left channel), so not
too much lost here. It took
about two hours of work to
replace the sockets.
You can see where the
crimped contact pulled
through the PCB.


AAAHHHH!!!! I just shook my
head the whole time I worked
on these.
